. in baltimore our world trade center is part of a unique memorial to the victims of 9/11. the 9/11 memorial sits in the shadow. once a year the building acts as a sun dale. the shadow moves across the memorial, revealing inscription, the time of the event on 9/11. the memorial pace tribute to the six marylanders who lost their lives on that day. >> in anne arundel people gathered to pay tribute. >> the memorial at police and fire department headquarters featured two steel beams. john leopold said it's a day to remember not only the victims, but the heroes who saved lives. >> to honor not only the people who lost their lives, about 3,000 individuals, 68 maryland residents, but also to thank the first responders, the police, fire, medical personnel who went into those burning buildings. >> the county held a tribute in annapolis. >>> when we woke up this morning it was the weather. a little before nine we all remember where we were 11 years ago. we remember who we lost, what we lost. in new york, they read the roll call of names. >> and my god mother. >> in shaimptionville people remembered the --

's what a baltimore county father says happened to him when his 6-year-old son justin didn't get off the school bus. terry campbell says he started to driving along all the way to logan elementary school where his kid attend a spokesperson for baltimore county public schools says justin was assigned to the wrong bus but he was never left by himself. campbell says that that's not entirely true. >> as i am on my way up to school he is walking down the street by himself crying. >> the child realized the child was not comfortable after getting off the bus and the bus driver made sure they didn't drive off and kept the child in their sight. >> the transportation department is still trying to reach campbell to talk about what happened. we will keep you posted on this story. >>> montgomery county family must plan a funeral for their young boy who drowned in a pool. a neighbor found the toddler yesterday and performed cpr until help arrive. there was a caretaker and another child at home but it's not clear where they were at the time of the drowning. investigators are trying to determine exa
of special memorials around the country including here in baltimore and inner harbor wherewe find linda so this morning. linda you going to tell us about a memorial. people are not familiar with this because it's sun dial and it happens once a year. >> reporter: yeah and it sits in front of the world trade center in downtown baltimore. and in just about 40 minutes,something special will happen here. when the sun comes up this morning, the building will actually cast a shadow that will move across the memorial and hitinscriptions that tell us what happened on september 11th. of course, 11 years ago today. the memorial honor the 69 marylanders who died on 9/11. this is one of the steel columns from the world trade center when it collapsed. there's also an exhibit at the top of the building that list the names and pictures of all the marylanders who died. so starting at 6:44 this morning, when the sun comes up, a shadow will move across the memorial and highlight the specific times when the planes crashed into the world trade center at the pentagon and inshanksville. this happens once a year
. >>> braking news from baltimore county. an elderly couple killed inside their home. >> he see you him walk down the street. >> a first grader onto wrong bus and he was forced to walk alone. the full story. >> and 75 today. when will be look at more 80's? abc 2news starts right now. >> we start with a breaking news update out of baltimore. an elderly couple found dead. >> no suspects right now. let's go to christian. >> reporter: yeah. neighbors say a younger man had been living with that couple not far from pikesville. police say there were no signs of forced entry in to the house. they are looking for that younger man tonight. the investigation lasted late into the evening with photographs being taken inside the well kept home. two people were killed here, an elderly couple, neighbors say they were in their 80s. >> reporter: earlier a neighbor called police after getting a call from a regularrive -- a relative of the couple. >> we looked in the window, saw a man on the floor. officers made forced entry in to the home to check it out. found a female in the basement. >> r
this happens everywhere. >> reporter: as baltimore county police point out as they are often quick to do, they do not believe it is a random murder. they offered that aassurance but no concrete reason as to why. detectives say the grandson may know something but he is missing. investigators are interested in talking with him but stop short of defining that level of interest. >> it's preliminary to say whether he was a person of interest. >> it would be of interest to neighbors wondering why police believe this was targeted and who in their right mind would murder an elderly couple. in pikesville, abc2 news. >> a double shooting sent two men to the hospital. one victim was shot in the back. the other man was shot in the head and the back and flown to shock trauma in critical condition. there were more than 20 bullet casings around the crime scene. some of those who live in the community say they still feel safe to live there. >> i'm sorry that it happened, but i don't think that would be a regular thing that's going on in east port. i really don't. >> police said neither man lived in that
